Kirkland’s Big Lean Into Litigation Pays Off: The Brief

DOUBLING DOWN on its litigation roots, Kirkland & Ellis added nearly 300 lawyers to its courtroom practice since the start of last year, Roy Strom reports.

  • Kirkland’s headcount of trial lawyers increased by about a third during that period, a growth rate that exceeded all other top 50 firms even as some rivals also loaded up on litigators. The firm’s litigation practice grew faster than any other business line through the first nine months of this year. It has been a $3 billion business over the last 12 months.
