Kirkland Lawyer, Judges Are Possible Romance Probe Witnesses (1)

A Justice Department unit has identified three Houston jurists and a prominent Kirkland & Ellis LLP restructuring partner as potential witnesses to a growing ethics debacle involving a former bankruptcy judge.

Federal bankruptcy judges Eduardo V. Rodriguez, Christopher Lopez, and Marvin Isgur, as well as Kirkland partner Joshua Sussberg, could all be key to fact-gathering in a civil probe into legal fees that former judge David R. Jones approved for Jackson Walker LLP, according to a record viewed by Bloomberg Law. The investigation is being led by the Justice Department’s bankruptcy monitor, the US Trustee.
