Kirkland & Ellis represented Bain Capital Private Equity on its “significant equity investment” in EcoCeres Inc., an Asia-based biomass refining company majority owned by Hong Kong & China Gas Co.
EcoCeres’ web site says its platform uses proprietary technologies to convert waste-based biomass into low-carbon biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials. It says it has commercially available combined annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of second-generation biodiesel and “sustainable” aviation fuel.
