Jenner & Block - New York
Jenner & Block has named Susan Kohlmann, a litigator in the firm’s Content, Media & Entertainment practice, managing partner of its New York office, the firm announced on Friday.
A graduate of the Columbia University Law School, Kohlmann chairs the firm’s Trademark, Advertising, and Unfair Competition practice, and also heads Jenner’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She is the first female managing partner of the firm’s New York office.
Kohlmann replaces Richard Ziegler, co-chair of Jenner’s International Arbitration Practice, who has run the firm’s New York office for the past eight years. According to the firm’s press release, Ziegler will focus on expanding the firm’s arbitration capabilities in conjunction with its new London office, launched in April.
Jenner’s New York office opened in November 2005 with fewer than 10 lawyers, but today has nearly 70. Lawyers in the New York office focus, among other things, on internal investigations and white collar defense, complex commercial and securities litigation, and international arbitration.
Jenner & Block - Washington, D.C.
In addition to Kohlmann, Jenner also tapped Samuel Feder to run its Washington, D.C., office. Feder is co-chair of Jenner’s Communications, Internet and Technology Practice and joined the firm in 2008 from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), where he was general counsel for four years.
A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Feder replaces David DeBruin, a litigator who’s been with the firm for 30 years, and at the helm of the D.C. office for four years.
Established in 1982, Jenner’s D.C. office is home to the firm’s appellate and Supreme Court advocacy lawyers, as well as practices distinct to the capital, including appellate and Supreme Court advocacy.
With three former chief privacy officers, the D.C. office also serves as the core of Jenner’s newly established cybersecurity working group.
Day Pitney - New Jersey
East Coast-based Day Pitney also named Heather Weine Brochin, a partner in the firm’s Employment and Labor practice, managing partner in its Parsippany, New Jersey office. She replaces Greg Parliman and Tony Marchetta, who’ve shared managing partner duties the last three years.
Day Pitney is a regional law firm with approximately 300 attorneys in nine offices in Boston, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C. The firm lists practices in eight core industries, including Energy and Utilities, Financial Services, and Healthcare and Life Sciences.
A graduate of NYU Law School, Brochin is the second new managing partner to be promoted at Day Pitney the past six months. Ellen Knarr was appointed head of the firm’s New York office in September.
