One of former special counsel Jack Smith’s deputies that helped press a criminal probe of President Donald Trump’s alleged role in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack has taken a job heading internal investigations at office-free firm Scale LLP.

Career federal prosecutor Matthew Burke started at Scale on May 1 after and he and others on Smith’s team were fired from the Department of Justice in late January because of their work with Smith, Burke said in an interview.
