The IRS has begun talks with the Department of Labor on strengthening whistleblower anti-retaliation provisions, an IRS official said Friday.
“It is a positive step,” said John Hinman, director of the IRS Whistleblower Office. He was speaking at a conference of the American Bar Association’s tax section in Washington.
The IRS also will consult with other agencies to learn best practices and how other programs have been adapted to potentially implement at the IRS, Hinman said.
