Intersectional Bias Claims Could Get Boost Under California Bill

California lawmakers are attempting to make it easier for workers and others to sue for discrimination or harassment involving more than one protected characteristic, such as race, sex, or disability.

State Sen. Lola Smallwood-Cuevas (D) on Wednesday filed legislation (S.B. 1137) that would expressly recognize the concept of intersectionality under the state’s anti-discrimination laws.
