House Splits Funding Bill Vote to Overcome GOP Objections (1)

Bipartisan legislation to fund several federal agencies will be considered on the House floor without amendments, after the Rules Committee overcame the objections of fiscal hawks to advance the measure early Wednesday.

The panel agreed in an 8 to 3 vote on the rule providing the parameters of debate on the fiscal 2026 minibus (H.R. 6938), which would fund multiple departments, including Commerce, Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, Interior, and Justice, before money runs out Jan. 30.

The procedural vote on the package is expected Wednesday afternoon, while a final floor vote could happen Thursday.
