Greenberg Traurig continues to boost its corporate presence in New York, adding four laterals from a variety of firms.
The four new shareholders hail from Davis Polk & Wardwell, White & Case, and McDemott Will & Emery. All three law firms last year posted higher profits per partner and revenue per lawyer than Greenberg Traurig, according to American Lawyer. But in some cases, the lawyers switching firms traded up for more prestigious titles and positions.
Meredith Beuchaw, who had been a senior associate at White & Case, will join Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder. Beuchaw also has experience working in house at a private equity firm where she was seconded while at her previous firm.
“I bring a unique perspective to the table,” Beuchaw wrote in an emailed statement. “I know what law firms need to deliver, not just in a very general sense of quality and value, but very specifically, to meet the needs of portfolio companies.”
Stephen Pepper, who focuses on the antitrust considerations of mergers, departed his position as counsel at Davis Polk & Wardwell to join as a shareholder.
Iskender “Alex” H. Catto and Obiamaka P. Madubuko both departed McDermott Will & Emery to join Greenberg Traurig as shareholders.
Catto will chair the firm’s Power Industry Project and Restructuring Group, while Madubuko, who served as co-chair of her previous firm’s Foreign Corrupt Practice Act (FCPA) and International anti-Corruption group, will work on white collar matters and has an active pro bono practice.
The moves are part of the firm’s strategy to grow its corporate practice, specifically in the areas of mergers and acquisitions and private equity.
“We offer a tremendous value proposition in the M&A and private equity arena, and are continuing to invest in the practice areas necessary to support the group,” Richard A. Rosenbaum, Chief Executive Officer of Greenberg Traurig, wrote in an emailed statement.
Additionally, Gregory R. Daddario, who focuses on complex mergers and acquisitions, joins the firm as Of Counsel after serving as vice president for legal and compliance at a New York-based asset management firm.
