House GOP Offers Short-Term Funding Bill

House Republicans issued their first salvo ahead of the Sept. 30 government funding deadline, without any extension of the enhanced Obamacare tax credits demanded by Democrats.

The 91-page continuing resolution would keep the government largely at current funding levels through Nov. 21 and makes no explicit mention of changes to IRS or Treasury Department funding. But, like prior stopgap spending bills, this legislation doesn’t exclude a continuation of provisions in the fiscal 2024 spending law pulling back IRS enforcement funding from the Democrats’ 2022 tax-and-climate law.
