Google, YouTube Sued for Patent Infringement Over Video Tech

Google LLC and YouTube LLC have been sued for patent infringement over claims that the online giants have made unauthorized use of a software company’s technology in video features called YouTube Clips and YouTube Shorts.

The complaint, filed by ART Research and Technology LLC, alleges that Google and YouTube infringed on a “portfolio” of patents that enabled them to take advantage of ART’s video clipping and “stitching” tech.

ART develops computer software for displaying and receiving digital media. Its suit was filed in US District Court for the Northern District of California Aug. 8.
