Google Asks US for Guidance on Artificial Intelligence Patents

The US Patent and Trademark Office should create guidance on innovations that rely on artificial intelligence, Google’s head of patent policy told senators Wednesday.

“We believe current industry uses of AI are well within the zone where humans are properly named as inventors, and where AI is leveraged as a tool in the invention process,” Alphabet Inc.‘s Google Laura Sheridan told the Senate Judiciary’s intellectual property panel.
