A lawsuit accusing Fulton County and various cities of using an illegal method to assess properties for tax purposes can proceed as a class action, a Georgia state court said.
The lawsuit satisfies requirements for class certification, including a sufficiently numerous and similar class of taxpayers, the Superior Court of Fulton County said. The decision—certifying a class of Fulton County taxpayers and subclasses for specific cities, including Atlanta—comes after an appeals court last year reversed the Superior Court’s original denial of certification.
