Four Firms Aid Planet Group Sale, Planned Merger With ProPharma

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and Clark Hill advised private equity firm MidOcean Partners on the sale of its majority stake in The Planet Group, a provider of outsourced staffing and consulting services.

The two law firms also advised Chicago-based Planet Group. Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg advised Planet Group management. No financial terms were disclosed for the transaction.

Planet is headed for a merger with ProPharma Group, a portfolio company of private equity firm Odyssey Investment Partners. ProPharma provides outsourced regulatory, compliance, and medical information services for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies, according to a statement.

Planet provides specialized staffing services to companies in a wide range of sectors.

Odyssey, which got deal advice from Latham & Watkins, said Overland Park, Kan.-headquartered ProPharma will benefit from Planet’s life sciences consulting services. ProPharma also will enhance Planet’s ability to serve the global talent market, Odyssey said.
