- Firm wants to boost international regulatory offerings
- Sinema brings cryptocurrency, AI and tech experience
Former Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema is joining Hogan Lovells’ DC office, the firm announced Monday.
Sinema plans to help clients shape regulations, navigate risk and protect business interests at the firm.
“With a new administration, a new Congress, there’s a real opportunity for disruptive technologies to move forward,” Sinema said in an interview.
Sinema’s addition to the firm aligns with its goal to boost its regulatory practice and offerings in infrastructure development for emerging nations, Hogan Lovells’ chief executive officer Miguel Zaldivar said in an interview.
Sinema will be a senior advisor in Hogan’s global regulatory and intellectual property practice group. Her chief of staff Daniel Winkler will also join the firm as a policy advisor.
“Our clients want help navigating the complexities of the US government and we believe that our ability to effectively navigate those challenges have improved significantly with both Sen. Sinema and Daniel joining our team,” Zaldivar said.
Before joining the firm, Sinema spent 12 years between the US House and Senate where she built a reputation for bipartisan collaboration. She served on the Senate’s banking committee and appropriations committee.
“Senator Sinema’s extensive experience in AI, technology, digital assets, private equity, and cryptocurrency positions her to be a key advocate for clients in the fintech space, and an important contributor to the firm’s broader initiatives around digital transformation, energy evolution, and geopolitical risk,” the firm’s global regulatory and IP practice group leader Janice Hogan said.
The firm made more than $2.6 billion in 2023 and doled out more than $2.7 million per equity partner, according to the American Lawyer. Zaldivar wants the firm’s revenue to break $3 billion.
Hogan’s clients roster has included Mercedes Benz and Google. The firm is representing LGBT rights group PFLAG in its appeal against President Donald Trump.
