FCC Fines Chinese Smart Doorbell Company Over False Statements

Federal regulators voted Thursday to levy a fine of more than half a million dollars on a Hong Kong-based video-doorbell maker that allegedly made false statements, part of a broader investigation into Chinese devices that may pose cybersecurity threats.

Eken, a company that makes and sells smart doorbells, failed to designate a legitimate agent in the US as required by all makers of radio frequency devices, the Federal Communications Commission said Thursday.
