Edison Hires Former PG&E Lawyer as GC Amid LA Fire Fallout (2)

Edison International Inc., a public utility reeling from last month’s devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, has hired Ameren Corp.’s general counsel Chonda Nwamu to lead its in-house legal team.

Nwamu will succeed Edison’s longtime law head Adam Umanoff as of April 9, according to a securities filing. Umanoff, who joined Edison as top lawyer in 2015, will retire from the Rosemead, California-based company on July 4.

Umanoff and Nwamu didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. An Edison spokeswoman said that Umanoff’s retirement was part of a planned legal leadership transition and unrelated to recent events.
