DraftKings Loses Appeal Over Surviving Arrow Gaming Patent Claim

DraftKings Inc. failed to overturn an administrative tribunal ruling that left intact one claim of an Arrow Gaming patent covering location-based limits on online betting.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in a nonprecedential opinion Wednesday, affirmed the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decision that invalidated most claims of US Patent No. 9,978,205 but left intact claim 18. That claim covers a feature that switches users to play-money mode with no cash winnings when they’re in locations where real-money betting isn’t allowed.
