Lawyers were skeptical of a proposed rule that would regulate how evidence created by artificial intelligence can be admitted in federal court.
Five witnesses testified at a Thursday hearing to give feedback on the draft of the rule, which is being weighed by the federal judiciary’s Advisory Committee on Evidence Rules. That panel has been debating whether to move forward with a rule that would lay out how lawyers could introduce AI-generated evidence without a human expert witness into federal court proceedings, as the use of the tools has grown in recent years.
