Dominion Energy Sues Interior Over Offshore Wind Suspension (1)

The Virginia Electric and Power Company is asking a federal court to block the Interior Department’s Monday order directing the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Commercial Project to cease construction.

The project is one of five offshore wind projects the Trump administration paused over “national security concerns.” The other projects include Vineyard Wind 1, Revolution Wind, Sunrise Wind, and Empire Wind 1.

Interior’s move was criticized by lawmakers and legal analysts, coming shortly after a Massachusetts federal judge recently ruled President Donald Trump’s pause on new wind project reviews—stemming from an executive order—was unlawful.
