DLA Piper advised Abry Partners, a private equity firm that focuses on the health sector, in its acquisition of a majority stake in medical plan administrator HealthEZ, the firm said.
HealthEZ is a third-party administrator of employer-sponsored, self-funded medical plans. The company says it helps small- and medium-size businesses “simplify” health care, including through proprietary patient payment technology.
Norton Rose Fulbright advised the Minneapolis-based HealthEZ on the deal, for which no terms were disclosed. The company said it will use the new funds to enhance and expand services and to make strategic acquisitions.
Boston-based Abry said it currently manages over $5 billion of capital across its active funds. Since its founding in 1989, the company says it has completed more than $82 billion of leveraged transactions and other private equity or preferred equity placements.
