Derek Smith Joins Barnes & Thornburg’s Litigation Department

Derek Smith joined Barnes & Thornburg as a partner in its litigation department in Chicago, the firm announced Thursday.

Smith brings more than two decades of experience defending clients in product liability and toxic tort matters in federal and state courts across the United States. He regularly provides counsel on environmental, health, and safety matters, and defends national and international chemical and pharmaceutical companies against individual, mass, and class-based claims, the firm said.

He joins Barnes & Thornburg from Venable.
