Morris Nichols Arsht Tunnell, a boutique firm based in Wilmington, Delaware, is boosting salaries for first-year associates to $210,000 as it seeks to better compete for talent.

The firm is also increasing pay for special counsel though in a statement Tuesday didn’t specify a specific amount. Morris Nichols did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“By prioritizing attorney recruiting and development, we aim to remain competitive for the best legal talent in the country,” Bill Lafferty, chair of the firm’s executive committee, said in the statement.

Law firms have been boosting salaries this year as they try to keep pace with their most elite rivals. Cravath, Swaine & Moore increased base salaries in November, with first-year associates poised to rake in $225,000. Boutiques including Susman Godfrey, Holwell Shuster & Goldberg and Massumi + Consoli LLP rushed to match the new scale.

Morris Nichols is representing Amazon.com Inc. as the company seeks licensing documents from Nokia Corp. to use in legal matters in Germany. The firm is also defending AT&T Corp. and its CEO John Stankey over alleged securities violations.
