Defense Agency Schools Must Return Removed Books on Race, Gender

Federal officials must return books removed by the Defense Department’s school system to its libraries and classrooms despite references to race and gender that drew the Trump administration’s ire.

Department of Defense Education Activity, which operates schools for children from military families in the US and abroad, can’t enforce President Donald Trump‘s executive orders mandating that the offending books be banned, said Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia Monday.
