A Washington state federal judge declined to let a cyber insurer off the hook for a law firm’s losses stemming from a 2024 wire transfer to hackers.
Spinnaker Insurance Co., a Hippo Holdings Inc. unit, failed to meet the standard to toss the law firm’s claim that the insurer breached its duty to pay for a roughly $1.5 million settlement, Judge John H. Chun of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said in a Thursday order.
