A cryptocurrency investment scam using the same acronym as the New York Stock Exchange defrauds victims after luring them in on dating apps, according to a complaint filed by the Massachusetts attorney general.
Trading platform NYSE.LPQV.Live solicits inexperienced investors through apps like Tinder, and then directs them to open legitimate cryptocurrency accounts to fund their investments in NYSE, Attorney General Andrea Campbell (D) claims in a lawsuit filed in Massachusetts Superior Court, Suffolk County.
Victims are offered risky trading opportunities touting steep returns, but are ultimately unable to withdraw the majority of their funds, the complaint said.
