The operator of the Crypto.com cryptocurrency exchange must face one claim of a proposed class action alleging it disclosed users’ personal information without consent in violation of California privacy laws.
The plaintiffs adequately pleaded a claim under the pen-register provisions of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, but failed to state a CIPA wiretapping claim, Judge Edward M. Chen, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, said Thursday.
Chen also dismissed their common law claims of invasion of privacy, intrusion upon seclusion, fraud, and unjust enrichment, but gave them leave to file an amended complaint.
