Crypto.com says a customer of the trading platform has fraudulently obtained trademarks protecting a hashtag that the company uses frequently to market a popular cryptocurrency.
Nathan Steele, founder of of Crofam.com LLC, obtained trademarks for “Crofam” and "#Crofam” by misrepresenting his company’s use of them, said a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
The marks have been used by Crypto.com to promote popular cryptocurrency Cronos well-before Steele formed his company, the complaint alleged.
