Core Scientific Wants Bitcoin-Mining Patent Suit Thrown Out

Data center company Core Scientific Inc. asked a Texas federal judge to throw out Malikie Innovations Ltd.’s lawsuit against it, arguing the asserted cryptography patents are invalid because they concern math algorithms that can be performed by humans.

Malikie’s five patents have some claims that concern complex math, but the calculations can be executed by humans “using pencil and paper,” Core Scientific said in a motion to dismiss filed Sunday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
