Aalok Virmani joined Cooley as a tax partner in its fund formation practice group in Chicago, the firm announced Wednesday.
Virmani works with sponsors to establish investment firms and develop tax-efficient arrangements for capital commitments, management fees, and carried interests, as well as advising on secondary transactions, continuation funds, and general partner minority-stake deals, the firm said.
He joins from DLA Piper.
