Cooley Drafts Fund Formation Partner Matthew Smith in Boston

Matthew Smith has joined Cooley LLP’s fund formation practice group as a partner in Boston, the firm said Monday.

Smith, who was a leader of the venture capital funds practice at Kirkland & Ellis, advises on the formation and fundraising of venture capital, private equity, and other investment funds, according to Cooley.

He also advises on general partner led transactions, fund regulatory and compliance matters, complex business transactions, and firm ownership and operational issues for sponsors’ businesses, Cooley said.
