Convictions Affirmed for Woman Who Stole $510,000 From Uncle

A Massachusetts woman found no relief from a First Circuit panel that affirmed her convictions for wire fraud and identity theft.

Jayne Carbone is guilty of “the scourge of financial elder abuse,” said Judge O. Rogeriee Thompson of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in an Aug. 1 opinion.

Carbone had been found guilty of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft following a five-day, 2021 trial at the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Evidence disclosed at the trial showed she stole just over $510,000 from her elderly uncle, Wayne Kerr, now deceased.
