Connecticut Attorney Dodges Sanctions in Data-Cable Patent Suit

A Connecticut attorney dodged sanctions in a Texas federal court after explaining misrepresentations he’d made in filings concerning patent reexamination proceedings.

Sanctions aren’t necessary because Lance Liu lacks a previous history of disciplinary proceedings, withdrew from the case, and took responsibility for his errors in subsequent filings, Judge Robert Pitman ruled Sept. 26 in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
