Companies Most Open to Governance Proposals, NYC Official Says

Companies are more open to reaching agreements with shareholders to address governance-related concerns than climate or workers’ rights issues, an official from the New York City Comptroller’s office said Wednesday.

The comptroller’s office manages the pension fund for city employees. It has been active in offering proxy proposals at annual shareholder meetings that encourage companies to make changes on environmental, social, and governance issues that pose a risk to retirement holdings.
