Clearview AI Inc. is poised to settle a consumer class action that alleges its facial-recognition technology violates “biometric” privacy protections by scanning billions of people’s images online without their permission.
Consumers who sued Clearview AI in Illinois under a state privacy law that protects biometrics, such as data drawn from faces and fingerprints, have agreed with the company on a framework for settling the claims, according to a Wednesday filing in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
