Clark Hill has acquired Philadelphia litigation boutique Conrad O’Brien, the law firm announced Wednesday.

The tie up, effective immediately, adds 18 lawyers to Clark Hill’s office in the city, the firm said. It comes less than a month after Clark Hill picked up four-lawyer real estate law firm Larsson & Scheuritzel.

“Our expansion in recent years enables us to attract and retain outstanding talent and broaden our depth of service offerings internationally,” John Hensien, Clark Hill’s chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Law firms have announced a slew of mergers since the start of the year as they seek to bulk up in certain practice areas and attract and retain talent that prefers to operate as part of a large platform.

Clark Hill reported more than $345 million in gross revenue in 2021, putting it just outside the 100 largest law firms in the country, according to data from The American Lawyer. The firm reported $712,000 in profits per equity partner for the same year.

The firm’s recent clients include Fiat Chrysler, Federal Express Corp., and The American Automobile Association Inc.

Conrad O’Brien lawyers handle litigation for clients, including the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, physician network Mednax, and pharmaceutical company Perrigo Co. The firm also represents colleges and universities in federal sex discrimination investigations and litigation.
