John Roberts’ chief of staff Jeffrey Minear is retiring effective Sept. 30, the high court announced Tuesday.
Minear will resign as Counselor to the Chief Justice of the United States as the justices prepare to take the bench for the October 2022 term with a new member, low approval ratings, and a publicly unresolved leak investigation of the Dobbs opinion that overruled Roe v. Wade.
In a statement, Roberts said Minear “has exemplified the finest tradition of Court staff, enabling the Supreme Court, and courts across our country, to serve the public efficiently and effectively.”
