The US Department of Education illegally cut off funding for Chicago public magnet schools, the city school board said in a suit filed Friday, despite the board’s cooperation with federal probes into its policies for Black and transgender students.
The department abruptly discontinued the city’s Magnet School Assistance Program awards, alleging violations of federal civil rights law, says the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
