California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) sued the Trump administration Wednesday for threatening to terminate all federal education funds to the state, totaling $4.9 billion annually.
The complaint is challenging the administration’s finding last month that the California Department of Education encouraged local school districts to violate the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, a federal law which requires schools to disclose certain student records to parents when asked.
