California State Bar Ups Legal Aid, New Lawyers Admitted in 2025

The California State Bar admitted more new attorneys in fiscal year 2025, compared to the year prior, the bar announced in its digital annual report, as it dealt with the fallout of its botched February bar exam.

The state bar admitted more than 7,120 new attorneys last year, almost 1,300 more than it admitted in 2024, according to the report. This represents a nearly 60% admittance rate, which is an increase compared to the approximately 45% admission rate during fiscal year 2024, which saw nearly 1,000 more test takers overall.
