California Judge Admonished Over Misconduct, ‘Poor Demeanor’ (1)

A Los Angeles judge was publicly admonished on Wednesday by the state’s commission on judicial performance over his alleged misconduct towards self-represented litigants and for failing to “maintain professional” competency.

The commission decided to admonish California Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Griego after he allegedly displayed “poor demeanor” toward self-represented small claims litigants on three different days and in four different matters, it said in a press release. Griego allegedly interrupted litigants, made “disparaging and gratuitous remarks,” and improperly left the courtroom in the middle of proceedings, among other things.
