- Hire follows several high-profile litigation laterals
- Cadwalader moves are to grow litigation team
Cadwalader has hired M. Chadwick “Chad” Stackhouse, former Washington, D.C. managing partner of Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders, as a partner in its fund finance practice.
Stackhouse, who led Troutman Pepper’s fund finance team, was also the managing partner of the firm’s Tysons Corner, Va. office. He represents banks and credit providers in secured lending transactions, with a focus on fund finance and technology and venture debt lending, according to Cadwalader.
“Chad has built an outstanding fund finance practice over the years, and we have worked with him on a number of syndicated deals,” Michael Mascia, Cadwalader’s finance group chair and head of the firm’s fund finance practice, said in a statement.
The lateral comes on the heels of several high-profile hires for Cadwalader. The firm in December announced the hire of Nicholas Gravante, former co-head of the embattled law firm Boies Schiller Flexner, along with three other partners. Two weeks later, it hired Mark A. Grider, former deputy associate attorney general and special counsel to President Trump, as a partner in its Washington office.
All five of the recent hires are part of Cadwalader’s strategy to grow its litigation team, according to the firm.
Stackhouse joined Troutman Sanders as an associate in its real estate practice in 2004 and became a partner in 2012. The firm merged with Pepper Hamilton last year.
He has represented major U.S. financial institutions and foreign debt providers in commercial lending transactions involving public and private technology companies, venture capital and private equity funds, and high net worth individuals.
“I think my venture capital lending experience creates new opportunities for the firm,” Stackhouse said in a statement.
A representative for Troutman Pepper did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
