Broidy’s Suit Against Qatar Over Alleged Hacks Tossed on Appeal

A lawsuit brought against Qatar by Broidy Capital Management LLC for an alleged scheme to hack the Los Angeles-based investment firm can’t be resurrected because of a lack of jurisdiction under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, the Ninth Circuit ruled Wednesday.

Broidy Capital and CEO Elliott Broidy, an outspoken critic of the Middle Eastern country, allege Qatar sought to blunt the investment firm executive’s influence on U.S. public opinion via a concerted series of cyberattacks aimed at California servers.
