O’Melveny & Myers has reelected Bradley Butwin as the firm’s chair for a fourth four-year term, the firm announced Thursday.

New York-based Butwin is now the longest-serving chair in the Los Angeles-founded firm’s almost 140-year history.

Butwin, whose tenure will extend until 2029, has overseen consistent growth in gross revenue during his time as O’Melveny’s chair, according to American Lawyer figures. The firm hit an important symbolic milestone in 2022 when it crossed the billion-dollar revenue mark.

O’Melveny has expanded its footprint domestically and internationally during Butwin’s tenure. That’s included announcements of a Seoul outpost in 2012, as well as launches of three new Texas offices in 2021 and 2022, which included the addition of more than 70 lawyers, in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

“Once again, our partners have expressed their highest confidence in Brad’s leadership,” said O’Melveny partner David Deaton, lead director of the firm’s policy committee in a firm statement. “As our firm navigated the challenges of the pandemic, Brad’s leadership helped us emerge even stronger. We have expanded our range of client services and grown our diverse roster of talented lawyers.

Butwin, a securities litigator, has maintained his practice during his time as chair. He’s represented banking mainstays such as Bank of America Corp., according to Bloomberg Law dockets.

O’Melveny jumped from 57th to 50th in gross revenue in the most recent American Lawyer figures that were based on 2022 numbers.

That year the firm boasted just over $1 billion in revenue, a 12.4% bump up from $911 million earned in 2021, with revenue per lawyer of about $1.4 million, and profits per equity partner of $2.76 million.
