Bittrex Hires Former Justice Department Attorney as CEO Departs

Bittrex Inc., a cryptocurrency exchange that’s run into legal and compliance hurdles in recent years, has hired former federal prosecutor and Justice Department official David Maria as head of litigation and regulatory affairs.

Maria started in May, the same month Bittrex announced the departure of its CEO, Thomas Albright. Maria spent the past three years as a government investigations and white-collar litigation partner at Squire Patton Boggs in Washington.
