Big Law is Filled with Big Drama in ‘Goliath’

David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro were not being subtle when they named their new eight-episode Amazon show, “Goliath.”

In the show, Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thorton), a down-on-his-luck attorney working out of a seedy Santa Monica motel, takes on a wrongful death case against Borns Technology, a giant defense contractor represented by his former mega firm, Cooperman McBride. The premise is nothing groundbreaking; the show is a pretty clear-cut case of good versus evil in the tradition of Erin Brockovich and basically everything by John Grisham.
