Biden Urged to Join International Agreement on Plastic Waste

A bill filed Tuesday in the California Assembly urges President-elect Joe Biden to ratify the amended international Basel Convention in order to avoid a plastic waste crisis.

Assembly member Cristina Garcia (D) authored a joint resolution that encourages Biden to sign on to the agreement within his first 100 days. “All the scientific data shows that plastic waste poses an existential threat to our planet equivalent to climate change,” she said in a news release.
