BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 6125, Online Dating Fraud Notifications

Online dating service providers would have to notify members when they receive messages from banned users attempting to defraud others under H.R. 6125.

The measure would also create a national standard by preempting state laws that set requirements for online dating service providers’ notifications related to communications with banned users.

The bill would take effect one year following the bill’s enactment.
