Stricter Energy Department efficiency standards for walk-in coolers and freezers would be repealed through the Congressional Review Act under H. J. Res. 24, which would also prevent the department from issuing a substantially similar proposal.

The Biden administration rule, finalized Dec. 23, requires refrigeration companies to implement energy-reducing technologies for walk-in refrigeration systems starting Dec. 31, 2028. They’d have to comply with stricter efficiency standards for walk-in freezer doors that aren’t designed to display products starting in December 2027.
