A prominent Houston bankruptcy judge has been taken off the case of former life insurance bond seller GWG Holdings Inc. over his connection with a former judge who was tied up in a romance scandal.
Judge Marvin Isgur on Monday was removed from GWG’s Chapter 11 due to his professional history with former colleague David R. Jones and the complex case assignment system “scheme” Jones created in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Chief US District Judge Alia Moses of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas issued the order recusing Isgur.
